Opening words from Elder Lewis Cardinal, Senior Advisor for the Indigenous Knowledge and Wisdom Centre and “kihcihkaw askî–Sacred Land” in Edmonton. Lewis Cardinal is a Woodland Cree educator and communicator from Sucker Creek Cree First Nation in Treaty 8. For over 30 years, he’s led work in Indigenous rights, cultural revitalization, and interfaith relations. Honoured with awards like the Indspire Award and Queen’s Jubilee medals, he continues to promote Indigenous education, governance, and community building through his consulting and media work.
