
Stay Safe! Course For ages 9-13 Empowering youth with safety skills for real-world situations Designed for children ready to stay home alone or venture out into the community with more independence. Program Overview The Stay Safe! Program offers age-appropriate safety and first aid training that builds confidence and decision-making skills. Youth will learn how to recognize risks, handle emergencies, and take responsibility for their own well-being ā at home, in the community, or while on their own. Course Content - Understanding responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself - Setting and following rules around safety when staying home alone - Staying safe in the home and community - Preparing for and responding to unexpected situations, such as: - Severe weather - Strangers - Unexpected visitors First Aid Training Includes: - Check, Call, Care (emergency action steps) - Calling EMS/911 - Recovery position - Choking (adult, child, alone) - Feeling unwell - Asthma (inhaler & spacer use) - Anaphylaxis (EpiPen use) - Poisoning - Insect stings - Minor wounds: Cuts, scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bruises - Serious injuries: Life-threatening bleeding, burns What to Bring - Lunch - Snacks will be provided but lunch will not. - Water bottle - Comfortable clothing for interactive activities - Notebook (optional) Course Schedule 📍 Location: Stony Plain Community & Social Development Office Forest Green Plaza ā #107, 4613 52 Ave, Stony Plain 🕛 Time: Arrive 15 minutes early Session: 10:00 AM ā 3:00 PM Includes two 15-minute breaks (timing may vary)
